Our Managed IT services will help you succeed. Let’s get started

Our services provide a unique range of benefits

Location Analytics (LOCAN)

LOCAN is East Africa’s most comprehensive geo-spatial database. LOCAN is a powerful tool for any project with spatial component, not limited to:

  • Focused expansion of retail / B2C penetration, as well as distribution planning and sales performance benchmarking
  • Target market selection and optimization, regional market analysis and localized segmentation
  • Identification of underserved areas, intervention and control groups

LOCAN is in its own class of research value. LOCAN already contains millions of data points from more than 100 sources that can be used to answer your questions and meet your objectives. Coverage differs by country and subject matter.

Monitoring & Evaluation

Baselines, Midlines and Endline surveys are our breath and butter. We design evaluations, develop questionnaires, implement complex data collections, analyze and report. Where we hit our limits, we work with a strong network of partners.

We have a continuous stream of monitoring and evaluation projects covering agriculture, financial inclusion, education and health in addition to incidental projects on WASH, gender, value chain interventions and more.

Qualitative Research

We execute solid qualitative research, including focus group discussions, key-informant interviews, observations/ethnographies and basic human centered design (for state of the art HCD, see Dalberg Design). We have a track record of executing qualitative projects in more than 20 languages in major cities, rural and remote areas.

We continuously work on our interview skills and set methods. Our aim is to understand our respondents and their decisions better than they do themselves

Quantitative Surveys

Dalberg Research is an efficient partner for complex quantitative surveys. Our sample sizes range from 50 to 25,000 respondents. For the best quality, we prefer Computer-Assisted Personal Interviews (CAPI).

We have our own scripting team, field forces and devices. Our proprietary quality control and reporting system is further refined after every major project. Where our quality standards can be met by cheaper survey channels, we are happy to revert to phone, IVR, SMS and online surveys

Secondary data sourcing and analysis

Many research questions have been covered before. Relevant data can be found in surprising places. We have full-time data hunters, who continuously expand our inventory of hundreds of online and offline sources for data.

We combine and cross-analyze data from multiple sources to generate your insights. We continuously improve our analytical capabilities and revert to our network of experts where we meet the limits of our expertise.

The long tail of research projects

Not every project fits one of the above categories. In fact, most don’t fit any category. Here is a diversity sampler of our work in the past 36 months: Edible oils market assessment, Evaluation of new security products, Feasibility of passengers ferries and aerial cable cars, Market failures study of an asthma remedy, the Top 100 Mid-Sized Companies Survey Kenya and Tanzania, Off-grid electric device mapping, Impact of subsidized conditional loans, Music streaming test, Islamic banking product feasibility, Early stage market test for a birth control app, Access for local companies to global value chains, Multy-country dairy product inventory, Explorative study on fake medication, Agriculture value chain mapping, Solar lighting rollout, Mobile money agent network insights, Traffic counts, Customer satisfaction surveys, Market efficiency evaluation for cross-border provision of services, Logo tests, Youth migration, Multi-country brand check for a Seed Producer, African music festivals

Dalberg Research are always accommodating our diverse needs and we feel like they are a part of our company rather than an external supplier.
